India Hicks is a noted interior designer who hosted the second season of Bravo’s Top Design, a former fashion model, and creator of the beauty-line India Hicks Island Living with Crabtree & Evelyn. She has royal lineage through her grandfather the First Earl Mountbatten of Burma, is second cousins with Prince Charles and served as one of Princess Diana’s bridesmaids.

Quote: “Honi soit qui mal y pens.” is the motto of the English chivalric order of the garter, and was on my grandfather's coat of arms. Translation is, "Shame be to him who thinks evil of it."
Treasure: A travel clock given to me on my Christening day by the Prince of Wales, engraved with a message from him.
Escape: A long peaceful bike ride on a deserted road, early on a Sunday morning.
Vacation: With four children “vacation” is a term we use loosely. But we like to experience the world as much as possible. Last year we stayed on Christian Louboutin's boat on the Nile (he is my daughter's godfather, no shoes yet, but a nice holiday).
Inspiration: Nature. It sounds so trite, but it’s a never ending source....
Movie: Dr. Zhivago, directed by David Lean, starring a breathtakingly beautiful Julie Christie
Childhood Memory: Leaning how to waterski on the front of the glamorous Sibila Clarke's ski's in Nassau at age three.
Work of Art: Elizabeth Peyton’s “Thursday Afternoon.” I have the print above my bath. And of course Salvador Dali's oil painting of my grandmother, Edwina Mountbatten.
Song: Jerusalem the hymn, words by William Blake.
Designer (past or present): My father David Hicks—he was a true original.
Misconception (about you): That I spend my days wandering luxuriously along a deserted pink sand beach.
Guilty Pleasure: Mad Med on the iPad under the bed covers late at night.
Junk food: English chocolate, even if its Cadbury, it has to be from England. The Americans do something funny to it.
Youth Remedy: Don't pay much attention to this but I do drink a lot of water and run marathons. Not sure either are keeping me young.
De-Stress Mechanism: India Hicks Island Living bath salts, blended with Epsom and sea salt to help relax tight muscles and release tension, and nourishing tropical oils and seaweed extract to condition and soothe. It’s the next best thing to floating about in a Caribbean ocean.
Cocktail: Pimms, reminds me of summers in England.
Party: Brazil. They are endless—they are everywhere.
Hangover Remedy: There isn’t one when you have four children.
Pals: Zoe Heller. She keeps me on track—her mind is so superior.
Crush: Miss Lee—my really unattractive-out-of-shape gym instructor when I was 11. It was never consummated.
Lipstick and Nail color: Never lipstick. Blood red nails if I have time between flights at the Miami airport, at the barber shop, incongruously.
TV Show: A Look Behind the Royal Veil—a one-hour special airing on TLC the week of Prince William's wedding, hosted by me.
Cartoon Character: Felix the Cat. My eldest son is named Felix and is just as mischievous.
Menu: Queen conch on Harbour Island, or conch mixed with native strength chili peppers fresh squeezed orange and lemon juices tomato and onion.
Restaurant: Casa Tua in Miami. I am a founding member, how could it not be my fave?
